During PotatoEurope, we presented our latest development: optical disease detection potato in potatoes. What immediately stands out is that our optical selection cart is equipped with a boom with cameras that hang above the crop, out of your field of vision.
The cameras scan the crop and detect diseased plants. These can be virus, bacteria, phytophthora, leaf roll, rhizoctonia, etc. As soon as the system detects a diseased plant, the machine stops and the plant can be removed immediately. This is the most efficient way, with the least amount of driving in the field. You can gain insight into the optical system via the large touchscreen on the driver's seat.
Our optical selection cart has a working width of 6 metres (8 rows) and uses 8 high-resolution cameras to assess the plants. The optical selection cart is equipped with large 24-inch wheels and is powered by a powerful 25 hp three-cylinder diesel engine. The seats of the cart are equipped with a swivel mechanism, allowing the seats to be placed three metres apart or with the driver alone in the middle of the cart. The boom with cameras can be folded in and out hydraulically.
